SHORT STORY: THE BLIND WORLD

I was sweating and my shirt was wet as it soaked in water. I was unable to see anything through the invaded darkness. After few moments, my eyes adjusted to the thickness of darkness around so that I could see something.

I inhaled excess air and began to walk with maximum speed. With the dimmest rays of light incoming, I could see trees and shrubs but not a way out of the woods. Suddenly, I heard some sounds, I listened and guessed someone is cutting a tree nearby.

I staggered towards the sound and what I guessed was absolutely correct. A man was cutting a giant tree with the help of a heavy axe and a lamp. " Hey, help me, I'm afraid of darkness" I stammered. He turned to me and lifted his lamp up to his shoulder so that we could see each other clearly.

I startled. I looked his face again. I startled again to see a face without eyes. Instead of eyes, he had two deep black holes! Before he utter a word, I began to run with all my strength. My whole body was trembling because of fear but I never tried to slow down the pace.

"Stop there!!"
I stopped my run abruptly hearing the loud voice of my elder brother. Even though it was dark all over, I saw him coming forward. He took my left hand and insisted to run with him.

We ran, ran, and ran about half an hour. I realised when the soil beneath my feet replaced by loose sand, I realised when the giant trees disappeared and I realised when the sunlight splashed into my face.

We stopped in an open area, no, in a desert. I found it difficult to breathe in. I turned to my brother and stunned to see his face without eyes. " I am sorry brother, I am going to take your eyes" he said and the last thing I saw with my eyes was two fingers of my brother.

Unknown

In precise words, I'm an ordinary who wants to be extraordinary.
